Blog Post #10

In the video, First Graders in Ms. Cassidy's class, the students were using different types of technology and were very excited about it. They knew what they were doing and how to use it the correct way. With the blogs, they were very excited about getting comments from different people. The students knew how to make and use wikis, webpages, videos, and Skype.

The video interviews with Kathy Cassidy informed me on the good things that a class blog can do for the students and also the parents. A class blog will help the students with better communication and learning more about technology. It will keep the parents more informed on their child's progress throughout the school year, they will be able to visualize what their child is doing and learning in class everyday. One thing that could be a problem when trying to do a class blog is getting the consent from parents. There may be some parents who would not be willing to let there child's work be put on the internet. The way that I would handle that in my classroom is by just having those students write in journal during the time that other students would be writing their blogs. That way the student is still writing and the parent would still be able to see their child's progress, it just would not be exposed on the internet. With parents being concerned about their child's safety on the internet in class, as the teacher I would make sure that they know and understand that there are rules to follow when blogging and using the internet in class. I would definitely blog in my classroom as a future teacher.
